1 Samsung SDI Hyundai Motor sign first-ever battery supply deal starting in 2026


October 23, Samsung SDI announced that from 2026 the beginning of the seven-year period, Samsung SDI will face South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group supply of power batteries, which is the first time that the two well-known Korean companies signed a power battery supply contract between them.

Samsung SDI said in a statement that this supply agreement is also the first cooperation between Samsung Group Hyundai Motor Group in the field of electric vehicle power battery.

The supply contract with Hyundai Motor Group, which runs from 2026 to 2032, is mainly for EVs produced for the European market, Samsung SDI's plant in Hungary, Europe, will produce the cylindrical power batteries used in these Hyundai vehicles, the company said.

According to people familiar with the matter, the power batteries supplied by Samsung SDI can meet the dem of 500,000 electric cars of Hyundai in the next seven years.




2 China PingCoal Shenma Group Signs Contract for 60GWh Annual Capacity Energy Storage Power Battery Project


October 22, China Coal Shenma Group annual output of 60GWh energy storage power battery project signing ceremony held in Zhengzhou, the Central Yu capital investment holding group.

It is understood that the project by the China Coal Shenma Group, Henan Province Automotive Industry Investment Group, Inovensen Energy Storage Technology (Henan) Co., Ltd., Pinggao Electricity, Pingdingshan Development Investment Holding Group five jointly funded the construction of a total investment of 10 billion yuan to be built in Pingdingshan Xinhua District, Hi-tech Industrial Park, is divided into two phases, all of the annual output value of up to 40 billion yuan after the completion of production.



3 With a total investment of 16 billion dollars, another battery base of Ningde Times will be put into production soon.


According to reports, on October 19, the Ningde Times Guizhou New Energy Power Energy Storage Battery Production Manufacturing Base Project in Gui'an New Area entered the final stage before putting into production, the substation, canteen other supporting facilities have been put into use.

At present, the project's first phase of work is advancing smoothly, will be officially put into production on October 27, after realizing mass production, it will gradually form an industrial ecology, help Gui'an New Area to build a new energy vehicle, battery material production base.

1 Korean government launches working group to deal with China's graphite control >>

SEJONG, Oct. 23 (Yonhap) -- The South Korean government has formed a response working group led by the Ministry of Industry, Trade Resources (MITR) to stabilize the supply dem of graphite in the country in the wake of the Chinese government's announcement that it will impose export controls on graphite, which is used in the manufacture of anode materials for power batteries.

Jang Eung-jin, the first official (Vice Minister) of the Ministry of Commerce Industry, chaired the "Joint Meeting of Civilians Officials on Graphite Supply Chain Response" at the Korea Chamber of Commerce Building in Seoul on the 23rd, to discuss specific response measures. On the 20th of this month, the Ministry of Industry convened a meeting with the heads of major domestic battery manufacturers to check the market situation.

On the same day, the government launched the Graphite Supply Dem Response Working Group in cooperation with Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KTI) other relevant organizations to ensure the stability of graphite supply dem for related companies. The government will also maintain close communication coordination with the Chinese side through diplomatic channels such as high-level cooperation, so that the approval of graphite import licenses for Korean companies from China will not be delayed or denied. In the long run, the government will also secure alternative sources of supply, such as Tanzania, actively strengthen the diversification self-control of the graphite supply chain.




2 Rongjie Group's New Base in Wuhai, Inner Mongolia >>

On October 20, Rongjie Group the government of Wuhai City, Inner Mongolia officially signed an investment cooperation agreement, in which Rongjie Group will invest 4.5 billion yuan to set up a lithium battery manufacturing lithium battery material production base in Wuhai.

Rongjie Wuhai new energy base project is located in Wuhai Bohai Bay District, with a l area of 900 mu. After the completion of the project, it will form 10GWH/year lithium-ion battery cell production line supporting PACK production line, as well as 100,000 tons of lithium-ion battery anode material production line.


3 Ganfeng Lithium to join hs with a Technology to invest in lithium iron phosphate project >>

On the evening of October 16, Ganfeng Lithium Industry announced that the company Guizhou a Science Technology Energy Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "a Science Technology") recently signed the "Strategic Cooperation Agreement". The two sides intend to jointly establish a joint venture to invest in the construction of an annual output of 20,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate cathode materials manufacturing project, Ganfeng lithium shares 40%, a Technology shares 60%.

Announcement shows that the two sides will carry out multi-disciplinary cooperation, in the supply of lithium salt products to carry out in-depth cooperation in the supply chain; in the supply of lithium iron phosphate anode products to carry out in-depth cooperation in the supply chain; to exp the application of lithium salt products in the field, in the development of new products, application research other areas of cooperation.

Meanwhile, in order to further enhance the industrial competitiveness of both parties, Ganfeng Lithium a Technology, based on their respective industrial advantages, intend to jointly establish a joint venture company to invest in the construction of an annual production capacity of 20,000 tons of lithium iron phosphate anode materials manufacturing project. The registered capital of the joint venture company is RMB 50 million, with Ganfeng Lithium holding 40% a Technology holding 60%.

After the completion of the project of the joint venture company, both parties will prioritize the supply of raw materials sales of the products of the joint venture company according to the market price or the price proportion agreed by both parties.
